HRD Corp participated in the 112th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland, accompanying the Minister of Human Resources Malaysia, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong. The ILC, recognized as the international parliament of labour, serves as a platform for setting global labour standards and shaping key policies under the International Labour Organization (ILO). The conference brought together delegates from the ILO’s 187 Member States, representing governments, employers, and workers, to discuss pressing labour and social issues, including worker protection against climate change and biological hazards, the care economy, and fundamental principles and rights at work. The session also included the election of members to the ILO Governing Body for the 2024-2027 term.

As part of the conference, HRD Corp successfully organized the ASEAN Hi-Tea event, which highlighted the ASEAN Year of Skills 2025 initiative. Attended by representatives from nine ASEAN countries and Mr. Srinivas Reddy, Chief of Skills and Employability at the ILO, the event reinforced Malaysia’s leadership role as the incoming ASEAN Chair in 2025. Discussions focused on key activities for the ASEAN Year of Skills 2025, including the ASEAN Training Fund Summit and the National Human Capital Conference & Exhibition (NHCCE).

During the event, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong emphasized the importance of regional integration in workforce development, underscoring Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening collaboration among ASEAN nations. The ASEAN Hi-Tea provided a strong foundation for advancing skills development and innovation across the region, aligning with shared aspirations for a future-ready workforce.
