A courtesy visit by the Deputy Regional Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific to HRD Corp has advanced preparations for the ASEAN Year of Skills 2025 (AYOS 2025).

Originally planned meetings with the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Employer’s Confederation of Thailand, Federation of Thai Industries, and the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok were canceled due to scheduling conflicts. However, the visit remained highly productive, focusing on refining HRD Corp’s Concept Note to align with global standards and best practices.

Key discussions centered on establishing governance mechanisms, including a dedicated Secretariat and appointed ground coordinators, to ensure accountability and seamless coordination. HRD Corp and ILO reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the Concept Note, leveraging international partnerships, and engaging diverse stakeholders to maximize the campaign’s impact.

The successful Bangkok visit marks a pivotal step toward strengthening AYOS 2025, aimed at fostering a future-ready workforce and driving sustainable economic growth across ASEAN.
